Weldy Extrusion Welder Range Explained: EX2, Booster EX2 & EX3

Weldy Booster EX3 extrusion welder from the Weldy extruder range

Buyers researching a Weldy extrusion welder quickly meet several model names — EX2, Booster EX2, Booster EX3 — and it is not obvious how the family fits together. As the team that stocks the Weldy Booster EX3 in Dubai, here is the plain-language map of the Weldy extruder range and how to choose within it.

How the Weldy hand extruder family is organised

All Weldy hand extruders share the same working principle — welding rod fed into a heated barrel, melted, and extruded through a PTFE shoe with hot-air preheat — and differ mainly in output rate, size and ergonomics:

  • Weldy EX2 / Booster EX2 — the compact end of the range: lighter units built for detail work, repairs and fabrication where access is tight and output demands are moderate.
  • Weldy Booster EX3 — the mid-range workhorse we stock: 3000 W, up to 3.4 kg/h on Ø3–Ø4 mm rod, built for standing operation in plastics plants, tanks, tunnels, pipe construction and landfill sites, welding HD-PE, LD-PE, LLD-PE and PP.
  • Larger Weldy extruders exist above the EX3 for maximum-output fabrication; they are special-order items in our region.

Why we standardised on the EX3 for Gulf and African projects

  1. Output vs weight balance — 3.4 kg/h covers geomembrane details, tank fabrication and pipe work, at 6.9 kg an operator can run all shift.
  2. Rod flexibility — Ø3 and Ø4 mm in one machine matches the rod we stock (including 4 mm IZ-4MM-WELD grades).
  3. Serviceability — shoes, heating element and brushes are kit items we hold in Dubai (see the parts guide).

Need the compact EX2 class instead, or a higher-output unit? We can source across the Weldy range on request — tell us your materials, wall thicknesses and daily welding hours and we will recommend honestly, including when our value-line IZ-620 is the smarter buy for occasional use.

Choosing in one minute

  • Daily production welding on polyolefins → EX3 (in stock).
  • Tight-access repairs and light fabrication → EX2 class (on request).
  • Project-based site work on a budget → IZ-620 (in stock).

All options come from one extrusion welder supplier in Dubai, with rod, spares and commissioning included in the quotation. Describe your work and we reply the same day.
