Weldy WGW 300 Setup & Operating Guide: From Unboxing to Passing Seams
Buyers searching for a Weldy wedge welder manual usually want one of two things: the official document, or a practical walk-through of getting the machine welding correctly. The official instruction manual ships in the box with every WGW 300 we supply (with transport box, three Allen keys, spare fuses and cleaning brush). This guide is the practical part — the routine we teach at handover.
1. Before power-on
- Confirm 230 V supply and a generator with stable output on remote sites — voltage dips show up as seam defects.
- Inspect the copper wedge: clean, unscored, free of membrane residue. Clean with the supplied brush only.
- Check roller pressure moves freely and the guide handle is set for your walking side.
2. Setting temperature, speed and pressure
The WGW 300 gives direct controls for temperature (up to 450°C) and speed (0–8.5 m/min). Start from the liner supplier's recommended window for your material and thickness — HD-PE 0.8–2.5 mm or LD-PE/TPO/FPO/PVC 0.8–3.0 mm — then let the trial seam decide: weld offcuts of the day's material, cool fully, then peel and shear test. The full heat–speed–pressure logic is in our wedge welder settings guide; it applies to the WGW 300 exactly.
3. Production welding routine
- Wipe every overlap immediately before the machine passes — dust and condensation cause most failures.
- Feed the sheets wrinkle-free; the large rollers handle uneven ground, not folded membrane.
- Watch the first metres after each start while temperature stabilises.
- Log settings with time and ambient temperature — consultants ask, and re-verification after breaks becomes trivial.
4. Testing the dual-track seam
The 2×12 mm dual-track weld leaves an enclosed channel: seal the ends, pressurise, and a stable gauge reading proves the seam without destructive sampling — the documentation CQA engineers in the GCC and Africa expect.
5. End-of-day care
- Cool down at reduced temperature before switch-off; never quench the wedge.
- Brush the wedge and rollers clean; check the spare fuses are still with the machine.
- Transport in the supplied box — wedge alignment survives roads better that way.
